November

Well today I wasn’t going to go round the lake. Had to make a doctors appointment early, then hopefully see him/her, a few other things to do, a meeting at work………….

Anyway, saw the doctor fairly early; she won’t let me back to work till next week, so as I left there, the sun was shining, and………….

I went round the lake. Somewhat later than I’d usually go, but it beats doing other stuff. No sign of the Black Swan; he’s moved on. But the Red Crested Pochard is still there,

with a good group of Wigeon, Tufted Duck, and some Common Pochard. For comparison, the Common Pochard.

There didn’t seem so many birds as usual; maybe because it was later in the day, but I did stop and talk to a few people today. One gentleman was with his dog, another was taking pictures, and then further round the lake, I got talking to a man called Trevor. Yea, for once I remembered to introduce myself properly.

So back to the birds. Most of the regulars, a couple of Lapwing flew over as I was leaving, and down the south lake, the Shoveler, still socialising with the Gadwall, and a Heron, lying down.

First time I’ve ever seen one lying down. I do hope he’s ok. Maybe he’s just resting?
